In late May 2018, Steines was fired abruptly from the series. It was later reported that there were no complaints about Steines' behavior and that the show was merely taking a different creative direction. Steines' contract had not expired and he was not informed until after he had taped what was his last show. On July 26, 2018, Cameron Mathison was named as Matenopoulos' new co-host, to assume his position in September with the launch of the seventh season. When it comes to Cameron Mathison, it didn’t take him long to recover from losing his Home & Family hosting job. After all, only twelve days after the final episode of Home & Family aired, Mathison joined the cast of the soap opera General Hospital and he has starred in the show ever since. By the time Home & Family’s final season aired, the show was mainly hosted by Debbie Matenopoulos and Cameron Mathison.
Since the announcement was made, GAC Family had gone on to pick up quite a few movies that will be airing this holiday season. Michael Damian, director of “Christmas Waltz,” shared that his new movie — “Much Ado About Christmas” — will air on October 30 on GAC Family. The hosts of The Hallmark Channel’s canceled “Home and Family” show are now hosting a new event on a competitor’s network. They’ll be leading a Christmas special on ex-Hallmark channel CEO Bill Abbott’s new TV network, GAC Family. Bill Abbott, the former CEO of The Hallmark Channel, is the man launching GAC Family and its sister network, GAC Living. While the channels officially launched on September 27, they didn’t have any new content at that time.

Now the channel will be airing reruns of “The Golden Girls” in the canceled show’s timeslot. According to the Hallmark Channel’s schedule for the coming weeks, two reruns of “The Golden Girls” will fill the former “Home & Family” timeslot on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The channel has encores of Hallmark movies scheduled to air back-to-back in the late afternoons and evenings during the week.
We, the audience, are not elementary school students that much have everything repeated in order to remember it. This is just my opinion; I do feel like it's worth consideration. I would love to be able to rate Home and Family 10/10, but honestly cannot until changes are made. The revived show's ninth season became its last, following cancellation by Hallmark Channel in March 2021.
